GOD

IN ACTION

(PERSONAL TESTIMONIES)

In May, 2010, Mrs. Sam was home with her

children when suddenly they heard a strange

noise.  One of her children went downstairs

and discovered that their house was on fire.

Everyone was able to get out safely, and

neighbors were extremely supportive.

Mrs. Sam said, "That night, all I could do

was cry, but by the next day when I calmed

down, I could clearly see the many ways

in which God worked everything out.

We're going to be fine!"

                                           ***

In May, 2010, Mr. Severe slowed down his car

and pulled over to see if anything was wrong with

the car.  Other cars behind him pulled around him.

Then one car, going at 75 mph, slammed into

his car.  Even with the large tire on the rear of his car,

the other car managed to smash his car.

Mr. Severe unlocked the seat belt, and jumped out of

his car .  He ran to the other car to help the driver.

Others called 911, and the driver was saved before the

car could burst into flames.

Since the accident happened at night,

Mr. Severe had not gotten a good look at his car.

Several days later, when he could see the car in daylight,

he realized that it was totalled - "like an accordian."

Mr. Severe said, "I knew before the accident that God

was with me, but now I really know."

      Sis. Mattie McTaggert

On Christmas night, 2009, Sis. Mattie McTaggert

returned home and drove into her driveway. The

driveway  slopes downward slightly and has a gate

going across. The gate must be opened so that

a car can then proceed to the garage.

Since it was raining, Sis. McTaggert  hurried out

of her car to unlock the gate and return to the car.

In her haste, instead of leaving the car in "park"

she left it in "neutral," and she left the car door

 open.

As Sis. McTaggert bent down to unlock the gate,

the car rolled down the slope toward her. She tried

to get back in the car to stop it, but the car pinned

her against the gate, with her head, neck, ears ,

and legs being painfully squeezed between the door

and the gate. Sis. McTaggert prayed, "Lord, You've

got to send somebody to help me."  She screamed  for

help and tried to beep the horn.

Soon two of her neighbors, a pastor and his wife,

came to help her. The first thing the pastor did

was to pray. Sis. McTaggert then told him how to

 put the car in "reverse."

After going to an emergency room for a check-up,

she returned home to recuperate. She said,

"I thank God for answering my prayer that night.

I was about to pass out from the pressure on my

head.  If no one had come to help me, I might  not

be here today. My face, ears, and legs are swollen,

I have lots of pain, and my side is all black and blue,

but I'm going to be alright."

          Ms. Joy Gavin

In January,2009, Ms. Gavin's car could not start.

A cab driver stopped and gave the battery a boost,

and then left.  Ms. Gavin's car shut off, and a

friend got in another car, drove several blocks,

found the cab driver, and asked him to return to

help Ms. Gavin a second time.

     The cab driver graciously  returned.

Ms. Gavin said,"You must be an angel to help

me today, not only once, but twice."

The cab drive replied, "And you must be

a child of God to interpret this situation

in that way."

Ms. Gavin often says that God's people

and God's miracles are around us all

day long.

In March,2008, Ms. Cynthia Griffiths

made a sudden slight turn in her home

and fell down an entire flight of steps.

She said, "The only prayer I could

say was 'Lord, have mercy on me.'  "

She walked away from that accident

with only a sprained wrist.

 Ms. Nadine Coates, Organist

   and Astronomy Student

December, 2008

Ms. Nadine Coates was driving to church

when suddenly a car slammed into a wall

and "flew" across the parkway, right into

Ms. Coates' car.  Sis. Coates' car spun around

and  was facing oncoming traffic.

Ms. Coates called the church to inform us of

the accident, then called her husband who

picked her up and brought her to church.

Fortunately, she was unhurt.

The car could not be repaired.

Her insurance agent asked her, "Did you have

a passenger in the car?"

Ms. Coates said, "Yes. Jesus."

The insurance agent said, "Well that was the

right passenger to have!!!"

July,2007 - Two Stories of God's Protection :

Talented teen, Ms. Tatyana Abellard, is

thanking God daily after being hospitalized

as a result of a biking accident. Tatyana was

seriously injured, but throughout her

hospital stay, she said prayers of thanksgiving,

and sang the songs she had learned at

St. Peter's.  She says, "I know it was God who

saved me!"  She is now back home, and

recovering well.

Mr. Ronald Campbell, father of 2, was riding

his motorcycle in the proper lane. Suddenly,

a car cut in front of him.  He and the bike

ended up against a wall.  He  was seriously

injured, and  in great pain.  He tried to remain

conscious, and prayed for help to reach him

in time.  Finally, he heard the voices of his

rescuers, and thanked God.

Ronald remains hospitalized, and is recovering.

He says, "When I get out of here, I'm going to

church to tell God a special thank you. I know

this could have been much worse."

   Mr. Ronald Campbell & Family

Mr. and Mrs. Morrison

On the night of June 27, 2007,

 during a severe thunder storm,

Kisha and Julius Morrison were in

their home.  Suddenly they heard a

terrifying crashing sound. Lightning had

hit their rooftop antenna. A piece of the

antenna burned and fell to the ground.

"If the lightning had hit the house instead

of the antenna we would have been in

real trouble. When we realized what had

happened, we both said 'Thank God!'

We knew we had been protected-again!"

January, 2007

Ms.Norma Skyers was in a car when another

car suddenly crashed into her side of the car.

EMS workers had to pry her from the car.

Yet she survived it all with no cuts or bruises

and only minor soreness.

"Obviously, it was God who brought me through."

1997

Ms. Denise M. Brooks, daughter of

Ms. Verneda White, was driving on

Grand Central Parkway. She was pregnant.

Suddenly, she got a flat tire.

A man helped her by changing the

flat tire, and then leading her to his

friend's service station nearby where

the damaged tire was repaired.

"Days later, I drove back to find the

gas station again, but it turned out

that there had never been a gas station

at that location!  God certainly does work

 in mysterious ways."

JULY, 2005

Ms. Sika Sedzro was driving with two

passengers in her car.  They were on a

highway with all seat belts buckled when

suddenly Sika was forced to swerve in order

to avoid a car that was dangerously close.

Sika's car went out of control, flipped over,

and then skidded for several yards in

that upside down position. Miraculously,

all traffic stopped. No car came near them.

Everyone was safe and sound.

EMS arrived within minutes. When the

the EMS driver saw the wrecked car

and the gasoline on the road, and heard that

sparks had been flying as the car skidded, the

driver said to Sika and her passengers,

"Whatever God you all pray to -you'd better

go and tell Him thanks, because in an

accident like this, somebody should have been

dead!"

        MS. MIRIAM SEDZRO

Ms. Sedzro's friend had been hospitalized

for several weeks,  and was barely conscious

and totally unresponsive.  In addition to

various serious ailments, the patient's

kidneys had failed.

On Saturday, doctors told Ms. Sedzro,

"Don't expect a miracle. There's

nothing we can do now.  We don't even

know what's causing the patient's

physical systems to shut down. We

can't seem to stop the infection.

Prepare for the worst within a day or

two."

Ms. Sedzro firmly told the hospital staff,

"No. You do what you can do.  I will

call people and ask them to pray.

God will respond to prayer."

On Sunday, at St. Peter's,  we were

having our annual Prayer Day, so,

of course, we prayed for the patient.

On Monday, when Ms. Sedzro and

Pastor Clarke visited the hospital,

the patient's condition had stabilized,

the mysterious infection had stopped

spreading, and the kidneys were functioning

again.  The patient was alert- speaking

clearly and even joking with visitors and staff.

The patient repeatedly thanked God for

this miracle, and gave thanks for all who

had prayed.

"...hope in the Lord from this time on

and forever more." Psalm 131

                 MS. HATTIE HUNT

         Administrative Assistant

On Tuesday, May 10, 2005, Ms. Hattie Hunt noticed

smoke coming from her building. "I felt unusually

calm. First I went to the next door neighbors and

asked them to call the fire department. Then I went

to all the tenants and told them to leave the building."

The building burned, but everyone was saved.

Later, a fire official asked her, " Who was in your

apartment with you at that time?"  Ms. Hunt replied,

"Me, Myself, and I, and Jesus!"

In Matthew 28:19 Jesus said,

"And remember, I am with you always..."

MS. NORMA GREEN:

On March 21, 2005,  Ms. Norma Green, who is visually

challenged, was at the entrance of Medgar Evers

College in Brooklyn when she saw her Access-A-Ride

bus leaving her. She was stranded at Nostrand Ave. and

Carrol Street. It was 9PM so all the streets were dark.

Ms. Green said, "I knew I had to find  a subway

by myself and  get to Queens. I couldn't see much,

but somehow I remained calm. I heard a familiar

inner voice say, 'Go straight ahead. you'll find the

subway.'  I kept following the directions of that voice,

and when each direction came I said, 'Thank you,

Jesus!' I was able to find the subway, the correct

train, and my correct stop. I left that train and

walked toward an area that I thought was the

Long Island Railroad Ticket Information Desk.

It turned out to be a concession stand.

Later, the man from the Information Desk

helped me to buy my ticket from the machine.

I was waiting patiently for my train when

suddenly, I heard a  woman nearby.

'Norma, what are you doing here?'  It was my

cousin, and she helped me the rest of the way.

God surely had His helpers on my path that night,

and I know for certain that the inner voice was

nobody but God. I tell people, 'Just do what

that inner voice tells you to do, and it will

carry you through.' "

Psalm 120:8

"The Lord will keep your going out and your

coming in from this time on and forevermore."
